Getting to Know the Latest Tapatalk Release for Android

unnamed

As android Tapatalk Pro users transition to the one and only free Tapatalk app there may be a few questions along the way. Some features did not make it into the free app from the Pro app, any time this occurs we try to not make it a net negative for the user. A loss of a feature usually means it was more likely moved elsewhere or was so underused, that it became irrelevant to the momentum of development.

This post will be here to answer any of the functional or design questions you may have about the app, so feel free to comment and we will do our best to get to each one. To start it off here are the 2 main questions we are hearing:

Where is my inbox tab?

When a Pro user transitions to the free app, one of the 1st things he/she may notice is that the Inbox tab is noticeably missing. Actually this feature was not removed but relocated. The functionality of your inbox is still present in the Unread Notifications section at the top of the Feed tab. This freed up some visual elements across the main app interface and made other tabs larger for presses.

Where is the photo editor?

The avairy photo editor however IS a feature we decided to drop from the app. The stock Google photo editor has made leaps and bounds in terms of power and functionality and we have redesigned the app to take advantage a part of the Android OS that has eclipsed the old photo editor we used to include in the app. Functionality is not only retained but also improved, not to mention we spared a bit of app bloat.

Let us know any other questions you may have in the comment section!

I believe that there’s a bug on the Unread Notification default setting.

I just migrated from the Pro version and in the Free/Vip there was no “Unread Notification” posts on the Feed tab (only the “Tendencies” posts).

Then, after reading this blog post, I tried to click on the filter icon and noticed that if I scroll *UP* on the filter configuration window, there was a unread notification settings, that was set by default on 5.
After selecting any of the other options (and maybe selecting the “5” again), then the Unread posts actually appeared before the Tendencies posts on the Feed tab.

So, I believe that the default setting on the unread notification is bugged and it only works after changing it / saving those settings again.

Thanks for the great catch on that issue. The tapatalk android dev team will be looking into it. 🙂

Is there a chance to return the mechanism of “balloons” on the “Forums” in the yellow and blue colors of the amounts of unread posts in subscribed threads and private messages?
Insanely it easier to establish a place to visit individual for the cases when we have a lot of them 🙂

greetings

It is possible, as more users add more forums to their favorites we may investigate more UI changes to make keeping track of everything easier.

How do you know whether or nog the VIP transfer is OK?
On the startscreen I only get to see “Pro” as opposed tot “VIP” in the Pro version of Tapatalk

Hi, for personal reasons I couldn’t use my Tapatalk app for a long time. Now I installed the free (and only) version of the app and logged in, but my VIP or Pro status is not there.
How can I get access to the paid features I used to have? I’m sorry if this is not the correct thread, I’ve been searching for a correct answer but I couldn’t find anything.
Regards,
Sergio
